The word Wicklow is of Norsic origin and it means Viking Meadow. Wicklow contains many Geographical features such as Powerscourt Waterfall, the highest waterfall in Ireland; the Wicklow Mountains and a granite ridge which cuts through Wicklow, containing the Sally Gap and the Wicklow Gap. Glendalough, a former monastic settlement in County Wicklow, was founded by Saint Kevin, now referred to as St Kevin of Glendalough.
